Technology has changed drastically over the past few decades, but two of the most promising technologies being developed today are artificial intelligence and machine learning. It will greatly change the way that humans interact.
Artificial Intelligence
Most people have a small grasp of what artificial intelligence is to some degree but they are completely unaware of how much it is used and how they use it in their daily routine. AI is present to some degree in your camera, computer, phone and most electronic devices. Take cameras for instance, artificial intelligence will alter the picture so that it looks less shaky. In your computer it will learn your habits to allow you to navigate through your programs and files faster.
What Makes It Artificial Intelligence
Computer technology has moved into every aspect of your life, you have smart televisions, smart homes and smart phones. However not every aspect of computer technology is “intelligent”. Calculators perform computerized functions but they only accept basic inputs. Intelligent computations don’t just look at input they also take into consideration your habits. Artificial intelligence can predict the best possible solution for you, the user.
Machine Learning
Machine learning uses data from the end user and it is a form of artificial intelligence. We haven’t even begun to tap into what can be done with machine learning, the data can be used in ways that most people don’t even realize yet. Here is an example if you hover over an ad while surfing on the web but then you move your mouse away. You may think nothing has happened because you didn’t bother to click on the ad, but that’s not the case. You will find the same or very similar ads while you browse or in your inbox. This is how machine learning has streamlined and made the advertising industry more targeted.
Supervised verse Unsupervised Data
Unsupervised data is unlabeled data that is used to find similarities or patterns in the data. It is used to find anomalies when data mining. Supervised learning is is for commercial applications. It will look at data collected from social media, and websites. You see examples of this everyday and without being aware of it. This affects more everyday users than any other type machine learning.
Machine learning and artificial intelligence still has lots of potential that hasn’t been explored yet. Slowly practical applications will make their way further into our daily lives.
